Naomi FultonIndianapolis, Ind. – The University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s Naomi Fulton (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. The junior runner was the overall winner of the 26th Annual UW-Parkside Midwest Collegiate Open and helped the Rangers win the team competition.

Fulton completed the 5K race held on the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in a time of 18:16, one second ahead of runner-up Nora Narloch of North Dakota State. The time was the fastest mark posted by a UW-Parkside runner in the event, besting the previous time of 18:21 set by Michelle Marter-Rohl in 1987. Fulton’s time of 18:16 is also the fastest time turned in by a GLVC runner in a 5K event this year.

UW-Parkside won the Midwest Collegiate Open with a final team score of 45. The Rangers topped second-place UW-Eau Claire who posted a score of 92.

The Rangers’ women’s cross country team, ranked ninth in NCAA Division II, will return to action on Sept. 22 at the Augustana Invite in Rock Island, Illinois.
