University of Southern Indiana’s Mary Ballinger is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Ballinger, a junior for the Screaming Eagles, opened up her outdoor season in the steeplechase with a blazing time of 10:49.07. She finished second in the race at Washington University and earned a bid to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship. Her automatic qualifying time ranks her third in the nation and first in the league.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Katie Hickey and Saint Joseph’s Erica Blythe.
