Bellarmine University’s Braxton Graven (Louisville, Ky.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week.

 

Graven, a sophomore outfielder for the Knights, had a spectacular week at the plate and led Bellarmine to a series split with Saint Joseph’s over the weekend.

 

On the week, he hit .368 (7-19) with seven RBIs, six runs, four home runs and a 1.053 slugging percentage.

 

In Bellarmine’s 11-8 loss in non-conference action on Tuesday, Graven was 1-for-5 with a double. He followed that effort with a 6-for-14 performance in the four-game set with Saint Joseph’s.

 

In the crucial divisional series, Graven drove in six runs and posted seven RBIs. The highlight of the weekend came in the series opener as Graven belted four home runs in the contest. In the 11-10 Bellarmine win, Graven was 4-for-5 with six RBIs and four runs scored. He led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo blast and capped the extraordinary game with a game-winning solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning.

 

This season, Graven is batting a team-best .365 with 21 runs, 21 RBIs, seven doubles, four home runs and 23 walks. He boasts a .480 on-base percentage and .587 slugging percentage.

 

Bellarmine (23-16) is 10-6 in divisional play and is currently in third-place in the GLVC East Division. The Knights will host Oakland City on Wednesday before traveling to UW-Parkside this weekend.

 

Other top performers in GLVC last week included Drury’s R.J. Knese, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Mike Finigan, Quincy’s Matt Scoggins , Rockhurst’s Tyler Knust , Saint Joseph’s Nate Weglarz and Southern Indiana’s Tyler Choate.
