Saint Joseph’s College’s Rachel Weaver (Crown Point, Ind.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week.

 

Weaver, a freshman first baseman for Saint Joseph’s, guided her club to four wins on the week and hit over .500 in the process.

 

In the four games, Weaver batted .533 (8-15) with four runs, three RBIs, a double and home run.

 

She shined in the Pumas’ doubleheader sweep of Rockhurst on Friday. In the opening game of the day, a 3-0 Saint Joseph’s victory, Weaver was 2-for-2 with an RBI and run scored. She returned in the nightcap to go 5-for-6 with two runs, one RBI, a double and the game-winning home run.

 

Her game-winning blast came in the bottom of the eleventh inning to push the Pumas to the undefeated week. In addition, Weaver pitched the final five innings of the second game. She collected six strikeouts and allowed just three hits in the victory.

 

On the year, Weaver is batting a team-best .358 with 21 RBIs and 14 runs scored. She has six doubles and three home runs on the year and has posted a .514 slugging percentage.

 

Saint Joseph’s (22-14) is 10-6 in the GLVC this season and currently sits in fifth-place in the conference standings. The Pumas will play Oakland, Northern Kentucky and Calumet this week.

 

Other top performers in GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Megan Russell, Lewis’ Stephanie Trapp and Missouri-St. Louis’ Kelly Essner.
