Drury University’s Alex Kacamakis (Budapest, Hungary) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. Kacamakis, a junior for the Panthers, helped his team to a 2-1 record last week, including wins over conference foes Northern Kentucky and Indianapolis.

In Drury’s 6-3 win over Northern Kentucky on Friday, Kacamakis claimed a 6-4, 6-0 win over Ignacio Ortiz at No. 1 singles. He also teamed with Antonio Garcia-Santos at No. 2 doubles to post an 8-0 win over Northern Kentucky’s Will Knoll and Tyler Fraser.

Kacamakis returned on Saturday against Indianapolis to record wins again at both No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles. In his singles match, Kacamakis defeated UIndy’s J.D. Greenlee, 6-0, 6-1. He again partnered with Garcia-Santos to notch an 8-2 win in doubles over Kyle Prow and Werner Henning.

Despite a loss to Northwood on Sunday, Kacamakis picked up two more victories. He defeated Peter Kazianschuetz, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 doubles with Garcia-Santos, he topped Bertrand Vigouroux and Maxime Dutors.

On the week, Kacamakis is 11-4 overall in singles play and 5-1 at No. 1 singles. He has posted a 10-3 record overall and 4-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Drury (10-5) is atop the GLVC standings at 6-0 and has secured a berth to the GLVC Men’s Tennis Tournament. The Panthers will host Rockhurst, Saint Joseph’s and Lewis this week.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Tyler Worley and Southern Indiana’s Joseph Boesing.
