University of Indianapolis’ Cory White (South Fulton, Tenn.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

White, a junior pitcher for UIndy, notched a pair of victories on Saturday in the Greyhounds four-game set at Saint Joseph’s.

He opened the day by tossing the final two innings of Friday’s suspended contest. He threw two hitless innings, struck out three batters and walked just one, allowing UIndy to pull out an 8-5 win.

White stayed on the mound to pitch the first scheduled contest on Saturday and put the finishing touches on his weekend by going the distance in UIndy’s 6-0 win.

In the seven-inning, complete-game shutout, White scattered nine hits and struck out six batters.

On the week, he was 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. He struck out nine and walked just one in nine innings of work.

White is 8-0 on the season with a team-best 1.57 ERA. He ranks second in the league in ERA and fourth in strikeouts per game (11.2). White has two shutouts and has worked 46 innings this season. His opponents are batting just .207 on the season.

UIndy (29-16) is currently third in the GLVC East Division with an 11-5 divisional record. The Greyhounds will travel to SIU Edwardsville on Thursday and host UW-Parkside this weekend.

Other top performers in GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Michael Thompson, Northern Kentucky’s  Kevin Jordan, Quincy’s  Brian Thompson and Southern Indiana’s Trevor Leach.
