Bellarmine University’s Michael Thompson (Newburgh, Ind.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Thompson, a senior pitcher for the Knights, opened Bellarmine’s four-game series with Drury over the weekend with a complete-game shutout.
The senior starter went nine innings and allowed just four hits. He did not surrender a walk and finished the contest with seven strikeouts.
Thompson is now 7-2 overall with a 3.35 earned run average. He has recorded 98 strikeouts in 78 innings of work. He’s just one strikeout short of his single-season high of 99 posted in 2007. Thompson has also notched two shutouts on the year.
Bellarmine (30-19) is currently in third-place in the GLVC East Division with a 14-6 divisional mark. The Knights will conclude their conference schedule with a four-game series against Indianapolis this weekend.
