INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. –University of Southern Indiana’s Mary Ballinger is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week. In her second race of the season, she is setting records and leading the nation in Division II.

Junior steeplechaser, Mary Ballinger, ran an exceptional race at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, CA. She grabbed the title in the Olympic Development heat of the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Her time of 10:26.73 is 28 seconds under the NCAA Automatic Standard, 17 seconds under her school record, and 10 seconds faster than the second ranked steeplechaser in Division II. This is only her second race of the outdoor season.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Kierra Allen, Lewis’ Kathryn Hague, and Drury’s Sarah Murzynsky.
