Drury University’s Micah Whorton (Belton, Mo.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. The junior forward notched four goals in helping lead the Panthers to wins over Truman State and Newman.

In Drury’s 4-2 win at Truman State on Friday, Whorton added an insurance goal for the Panthers to ice the contest in the 77th minute.

 

He returned on Saturday to notch a hat trick against visiting Newman. Whorton tallied all three goals in the Panthers’ 3-0 victory, including two unassisted goals in the first half. Whorton scored the game-winning goal in the fourth minute and added his second goal of the half in the 31st minute.

 

Whorton finished the match with a goal in the 58th minute on an assist by Steve Wilczewski.

 

Drury (2-0) will next host Harding and 12th-ranked Lewis this weekend.

 

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Zane Reifsteck, Indianapolis’ Bobby Adkins, Lewis’ Sebastian Kierzual, Maryville’s Dustin Allison, Northern Kentucky’s Andrew Montgomery, Rockhurst’s Haggai Leboo, Saint Joseph’s Greg Gehrig and UW-Parkside’s Johnson Thao.
