University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s Shannon Becker (DePere, Wis.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. The sophomore forward posted three goals and two assists in the Rangers’ contests over the weekend.
On Friday, Becker helped the 25th-ranked Rangers to a 5-0 win over Minnesota St.-Moorhead. Becker scored the game-winning goal in the 18th minute on a breakaway. She later assisted in Meredith Novak’s goal and shortly followed with her second goal of the contest in the 68th minute.
Saturday, the Rangers posted a win over Missouri S&T in the conference opener for both clubs. In the 5-1 win, Becker scored the game-winning goal in the 13th minute. She also assisted on Kelsey Krzyzaniak’s goal to finish the match with three points.
On the week, Becker posted eight points and registered two game-winning goals. She leads the Rangers in points (8), goals (3) and assists (2) on the season.
UW-Parkside (2-0-1) will next travel to Maryville and Missouri-St. Louis this weekend.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Nicole Williams, Indianapolis’ Shelby Spinelli, Maryville’s Laura Jendusa, Rockhurst’s Abby Davidson and Southern Indiana’s Paige Neulle.
