Lewis University’s Rachel Ruedi, a senior from Mahomet, Ill., is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. The junior setter posted the highest attack percentage at the Colorado Premier Tournament and averaged over 11 assists per set in four matches.
Ruedi opened the weekend with 55 assists, six kills and 10 digs in the Flyers’ 3-2 loss to third-ranked West Texas A&M. She added a service ace and posted a .455 attack percentage in the loss.
In the nightcap on Saturday, Ruedi had 28 assists, eight kills, seven digs and a .667 attack percentage in a 3-0 loss to 12th-ranked Central Missouri.
In Sunday’s 3-0 win over Regis, Ruedi had 38 assists, three kills and seven digs and finished the weekend with 35 assists, five kills, nine digs, a .625 attack percentage and two service aces in the Flyers’ 3-0 win over 25th-ranked Augustana.
She averaged 11.14 assists, 1.57 kills, 2.36 digs and 0.50 blocks per set in the four matches. She finished with a .476 hitting percentage and had the fourth highest assist per set average at the tournament.
Ruedi is averaging a league-best 10.31 assists per set this season. She is also averaging 1.35 kills and 2.35 digs per set, while boasting a .436 attack percentage.
Lewis (5-3), ranked 20th in this week’s AVCA Top 25, will next face visiting St. Francis (IL) before hosting the 2009 Flyer Festival this weekend.
