Northern Kentucky University’s Drew Harris has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. The junior led his team to a third-place finish in the college division at the University of Dayton’s Flyer 5k on Saturday.

Harris broke the school record by running the race in 15:16, placing first in the college division and fifth overall, competing against several competitive Division I runners in the region.

In the race, he ran against 117 other contestants helping his team to earn a total of 52 points. Teammate Eric Dwyer also helped the Norse to the third-place finish by placing 29th overall in the competition and fifth in the college division.

The Norse will return to action Sept. 11, at the Queen City Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week were Southern Indiana’s Brendan Devine, Bellarmine’s Jordan Parayil and Maryville’s Nolan Bevirt.
