INDIANAPOLIS –University of Southern Indiana’s Meagan Kempf was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. Kempf helped the Screaming Eagles to a 1-0-2 week.
On Wednesday, Kempf assisted in both of USI’s goals against North Alabama, totaling a team high of four assists on the season. Both assists came before the half, allowing the Screaming Eagles to take the lead 2-0. North Alabama rallied, scoring two goals in the second half, forcing the game in overtime. Neither team could earn the win, finalizing the score, 2-2 in two overtimes.
On Friday against 17th ranked UW-Parkside, Kempf tallied the only goal for the Screaming Eagles, her first on the season. However, USI couldn’t hold the Rangers back, allowing a goal in the 77th minute of play. Neither team could generate a goal in overtime, finalizing the score at 1-1 in two overtimes.
Returning to play Sunday, USI was able to secure a win against Lewis. Kempf helped her team to a 1-0 win against the Flyers, for a season record of 4-3-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the conference.
The Screaming Eagles return to action next weekend when they host Illinois-Springfield and Quincy.
Other top performer’s in the GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Shelby Spinelli, Quincy’s Toni Eye, Bellarmine’s Abby Schuhmann, Rockhurst’s Haley Long, Maryville’s Lauren Dieckmann, and Drury’s Jessie Sanderson.
