Lewis University’s Stephanie Sagat, a senior outside hitter from Darien, Ill., is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Sagat helped the Flyers collect a pair of road league victories, including a straight-set win at ninth-ranked Indianapolis on Friday.
In the Flyers’ 3-0 win over UIndy on Friday, Sagat posted 14 kills, two assists, three service aces, four digs and one block. She hit at a .429 clip, committing just one attack error and finished the match with 17.5 points.
She returned on Saturday to help Lewis secure an undefeated weekend with a 3-0 decision at Saint Joseph’s. In the victory, Sagat had eight kills, one assists, seven digs and one block in just two sets. She had a .667 attack percentage and finished with 8.5 points.
On the week, Sagat averaged 4.40 kills, 2.20 digs, 0.60 service aces, 0.60 assists, 0.40 blocks and 5.20 points per set.
She is currently ranked third in the GLVC with 3.56 kills per set and fifth in the league in points (3.85/set). Sagat is also adding 2.29 digs per set and is hitting at a .279 clip.
Lewis (11-3, 2-0 GLVC) is ranked 17th in the most recent AVCA Top 25 Poll and will return to action against UW-Parkside on Tuesday in a non-conference match. The Flyers, winners of eight straight matches, will then travel to Illinois-Springfield and Quincy this weekend.
