Quincy University’s Jake Pittroff, a junior midfielder from St. Louis, is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. Pittroff led the Hawks to a 2-0-1 record last week and tallied seven goals in the three matches.

In Wednesday’s 6-6 tie with Hannibal-LaGrange, Pittroff scored four times in the second half, accounting for each of the Hawks tallies in the half. He scored in the 48th and the 55th minutes to give Quincy a 4-3 lead after trailing 3-2 at the break.

Pittroff added a game-tying goal in the 78th minute and again in the 84th minute. In addition, he assisted on the match’s first goal by Jack Wedemeier in the 13th minute. Pittroff finished the contest with four goals, an assist and nine points.

Quincy captured the first of two GLVC wins on the week in a 2-0 decision over Missouri S&T on Friday. Pittroff recorded the game-winning goal in the 26th minute unassisted.

He returned on Sunday to post a pair of goals in Quincy’s 5-0 win over visiting Maryville. He scored the game-winner in the 21st minute on an assist from Jayme Groark and added an assist on Jack Wedemeier’s goal in the 31st minute. Pittroff capped the weekend with a goal in the 53rd minute to give the Hawks a 3-0 advantage.

On the week, Pittroff had 16 points on seven goals and two assists. He converted all but one of his shots on goal and had two game-winning tallies.

Following the explosive effort, Pittroff is ranked tied for first in assists in the GLVC and is also tied for second in the league in points and fourth in goals scored.

Quincy (4-3-1, 3-1-0 GLVC) will next travel to Missouri-St. Louis and Southern Indiana this weekend.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Jack Binns, Drury’s Stephen Conner, Indianapolis’ Bobby Adkins, Lewis’ Kipp Cartwright, Northern Kentucky’s Michael Lavric, Rockhurst’s Kyle Clawson and UW-Parkside’s Niklas Boedts.
