Lewis University’s Sara deBuhr, a senior from Urbandale, Iowa, is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. The middle hitter helped the Flyers extend their winning streak to 11 matches with three wins last week.
In non-conference action on Tuesday, deBuhr recorded 17 kills in Lewis’ 3-1 win over visiting UW-Parkside. She finished the match hitting .314 and also tallied three digs and three blocks.
deBuhr returned on Friday to lift the Flyers’ to a 3-0 win at Illinois-Springfield. In just two sets versus the Prairie Stars, she posted nine kills and finished with a .600 hitting percentage. deBuhr also tallied three blocks, an assist and dig.
She completed the week with six kills and two digs in just two sets as Lewis swept past Quincy, 3-0. deBuhr finished the match with a .625 hitting percentage.
On the week, deBuhr averaged 4.00 kills, 0.75 blocks, 0.75 digs and 0.25 assists per set. She finished the week with a .431 hitting percentage and tallied 4.38 points per set.
deBuhr is averaging 3.10 kills and 0.58 blocks per set this season, while attacking at a .340 clip. She is ranked seventh in the league in hitting percentage and eighth in both kills and blocks per set.
Lewis (14-3), ranked 13th in the latest AVCA Poll, is 4-0 in league play in 2009 and will look to build on its’ season-long winning streak against visiting Missouri-St. Louis and Missouri S&T this weekend.
