Kim PotthastINDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Kim Potthast (St. Rose, Ill./Breese Central) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. The junior right side/outside hitter assisted the Cougars in collecting three, league road victories last week and helped them claim the No. 1 seed for the GLVC Championship Tournament for the first time.
 
Potthast posted 15 kills in SIU Edwardsville’s 3-0 (31-29, 30-25, 30-15) win over the University of Southern Indiana on Oct. 17. She finished with a hitting percentage of .480 and had five block assists.
 
In the Cougars’ 3-1 (25-30, 30-24, 30-28, 30-27) win over No. 16 Rockhurst University on Oct. 20, Potthast registered a team season-high 22 kills. She added four digs and six blocks in the victory with a hitting percentage of .372.
 
She capped the week with a 17-kill performance in SIU Edwardsville’s 3-1 (30-22, 29-31, 30-12, 33-31) over Drury University on Oct. 21. Potthast had a .438 hitting percentage and three blocks and two assists in the win.
 
For the week, she averaged 4.91 kills and 1.27 blocks per game with a .420 hitting percentage. She leads the league with a .424 hitting percentage in conference matches and is averaging 3.77 kills and 1.37 blocks per game this season.
 
No. 17 SIU Edwardsville improved to 15-0 in conference action this season and extended its conference regular season winning streak to 29 matches. The Cougars are 24-4 overall and will host the 2006 GLVC Volleyball Championship Tournament on Nov. 2-4.
