Northern Kentucky University’s Kim Nemcek, a junior from Geneva, Ill., is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Nemcek, a middle hitter for the Norse, helped her team to a pair of road victories in the GLVC last week.
On the week, Nemcek posted 32 kills, 22 digs, three blocks and a pair of service aces. She averaged 3.56 kills, 3.65 points and 2.44 digs per set in two matches while posting a .393 hitting percentage.
In NKU’s 3-2 win at Rockhurst on Friday, Nemcek posted a double-double with 15 kills and 16 digs. She finished the match with a .300 hitting percentage and collected two blocks and two service aces in the win.
Nemcek returned on Saturday to record 17 kills and a .484 hitting percentage in a 3-1 win over host Drury. She finished the match with six digs and a block.
On the season, Nemcek is leading the GLVC in kills per set (3.94) and points per set (4.81) and ranks ninth in the league in both hitting percentage (.332) and blocks per set (0.90).
She has helped the Norse (14-5) to six straight wins and to victories in 10 of their past 11 contests. Included in the six-match winning streak is a 5-0 mark to start league play. NKU will face Bellarmine, UW-Parkside and Lewis in league action this week.
