INDIANAPOLIS – Southern Indiana’s Mary Ballinger has been selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Runner of the Week for the second week in a row. She helped the Screaming Eagles to a 10th-place finish out of 35 teams in the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday.
The senior paced herself to a 14th place finish against strong Division I runners. She ran the 5K course in a time of 17:45, the best 5K time in the GLVC on the season.
The Screaming Eagles are currently ranked 13th in the USTFCCAA polls and second in the Midwest Regional Poll.
USI returns to action next weekend when they travel to Rolla, Missouri to compete in the GLVC-MIAA Challenge.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Katherine Wilhelm, Drury’s Stephanie Cowherd and Bellarmine’s Cristin Samuels.
