Bellarmine University’s Lauren Triplett, a sophomore from Belleville, Ill., is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. Triplett, a midfielder for the Knights, helped her club to a pair of victories in league play over the weekend.

In Bellarmine’s 2-1 overtime win over visiting Rockhurst on Friday, Triplett scored both goals for the Knights. After Rockhurst took an early 1-0 advantage, Triplett knotted the score just 20 seconds later in the 39th minute unassisted.

She posted the game-winning tally against the Hawks in the fifth minute of the match’s second overtime. Triplett was assisted on the goal by Abby Schuhmann.

Bellarmine defeated 25th-ranked Drury on Sunday afternoon, 1-0, and again Triplett delivered for the Knights. She tallied the game-winning goal in the 78th minute from the top of the box off an indirect kick. Triplett was again assisted by Schuhmann on the play.

On the week, Triplett registered three goals, including two game-winning goals for the Knights. She has a team-leading six goals, 12 points and three game-winning goals this season.

Bellarmine (10-2) has won seven of its last eight matches and sits in a five-way tie for first-place in the GLVC at 8-2. The Knights will travel to Missouri S&T and Maryville this weekend.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Shae Morris, Maryville’s Jena Casagrande, Northern Kentucky’s Hannah Wissel and Quincy’s Erin Conroy.
