University of Indianapolis’ Lyndsay Callahan, a junior from Chicago, Ill., is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Callahan, an outside hitter for the 12th-ranked Greyhounds, led UIndy to a 4-0 record last week, including three wins at the Asics GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Tournament.

 

On the week, Callahan registered three double-doubles and fell one kill shy of a fourth. She averaged 2.78 kills and 2.89 digs per set and earned all-tournament honors at the Crossover Tournament.

 

In UIndy’s 3-1 win over visiting Taylor on Tuesday, Callahan posted 12 kills, 11 digs, two assists, one service ace and a block. She also finished with a .345 hitting percentage in the victory.

 

Callahan led the Greyhounds to a pair of wins on Friday at the Crossover Tournament. She recorded 15 kills, 19 digs, two assists, a service ace and a .414 hitting percentage in UIndy’s 3-1 win over Northern Michigan in the opener.

 

She returned to post 14 kills and 12 digs in a five-set come-from-behind victory over 23rd-ranked Hillsdale in the nightcap.

 

Callahan completed the weekend with nine kills, 10 digs, two service aces and three blocks in the Greyhounds 3-2 win over Saginaw Valley State.

 

On the year, Callahan is averaging 2.70 kills and 3.10 digs per set. She has a .281 hitting percentage and ranks in the top 16 in the league in all three statistical categories.

 

UIndy (26-1) has won 12 straight matches and is 7-1 in the GLVC. The Greyhounds will host Bellarmine and Northern Kentucky in league contests this weekend.

 

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Emily Beckman, Lewis’ Stephanie Sagat, Rockhurst’s Maggie McGovern and UW-Parkside’s Andrea Gust.
