University of Indianapolis’ Cheneta Morrison (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Morrison, a junior setter for the Greyhounds, led her club to a pair of road wins in league play last week.
In a three-set victory over Drury on Friday, Morrison just missed posting a triple-double with a 36-assist, 10-kill, 8-dig performance. She finished the match with a .533 hitting percentage, four blocks and a service ace.
She returned on Saturday to lift the Greyhounds to a four-set win over host Rockhurst by recording a career-high 59 assists, a league best in four-match sets this season. She also posted 13 digs, four kills and three blocks in the win.
On the week, Morrison averaged 13.00 assists, 3.00 digs, 2.00 kills and 1.00 blocks per set. She tallied 91 assists, 14 kills and seven blocks in the two matches.
This season, Morrison is averaging 10.50 assists, 1.78 kills, 2.50 digs and 0.42 blocks per set while posting a .312 hitting percentage.
She has helped guide the tenth-ranked Greyhounds to a 30-1 overall record and 11-1 mark in GLVC play. UIndy, having marked just the second 30-win season in school history, will close the regular season with matches at Saint Joseph’s and at home against Maryville.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Kyrie Hopkins, Lewis’ Rachel Ruedi, Rockhurst’s Maggie McGovern, Southern Indiana’s Danielle LaGrange and UW-Parkside’s Addie Kramer.
