Drury University’s Lindsay Ballweg (Shawnee, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas/Kansas) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Ballweg, a senior for the Panthers, helped Drury to three wins last week.
In Drury’s 92-85 overtime win at 25th-ranked Grand Valley State on Monday, Ballweg tallied 17 points and four assists. She was 7-for-15 (.467) from the field and scored nine points in the second half to help the Panthers come back from ten points down.
She returned on Friday in the opening game of the Lady Panthers/Sleep Inn Classic to post a game-high 23 points in Drury’s 98-60 win over Texas A&M-Commerce. Ballweg was 8-for-9 (.889) from the field and 5-for-6 (.833) from the three-point line in the win. She also added five assists, two steals and a blocked shot.
Drury defeated Missouri Western, 103-74, on Saturday night in the final game of the Lady Panthers/Sleep Inn Classic and in the process set a new school record by hitting 14 three-point field goals. Ballweg scored 20 points and was 6-for-8 (.750) from the three-point line. She added five assists, three rebounds and a steal on the night.
In the three contests last week, Ballweg averaged 20.0 points, 4.7 assists, 1.3 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game. She shot 61.1 percent from the field and was 12-for-19 (.632) from behind the three-point line.
Drury (3-0) will next host 18th-ranked Washburn on Tuesday before facing Central Missouri and Southwest Baptist on Friday and Saturday.
