University of Wisconsin-Parkside junior center Brittany Hogen (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Hogen led the Rangers to a pair of wins in non-conference action on the week, extending UW-Parkside’s winning streak to six games.
In UW-Parkside’s 85-70 win over Robert Morris on Saturday, Hogen posted a career-high in both points and rebounds by netting 28 points and pulling down 21 rebounds. In the rare 20-20 effort, Hogen was 8-for-16 (.500) from the field and 12-for-15 (.800) from the free throw line. Seventeen of her 21 rebounds were on the defensive end and she added three assists.
Hogen returned on Sunday to again dominate the glass, posting 15 rebounds and eight point in the Rangers’ 72-45 win over Cardinal Stritch. She was 2-for-7 (.285) from the field and added an assist and blocked shot.
In the two contests last week, Hogen averaged 18 points and 18 rebounds per game. She shot 43.4 percent from the field and 72.7 percent from the free throw line while also adding four assists and a blocked shot.
Hogen is averaging a double-double on the season by tallying 15.2 points and a league-best 10.2 rebounds per game. She ranks seventh in the league in scoring and sixth in field goal percentage (56.5 percent).
UW-Parkside (8-1) is 2-0 in GLVC contests this season and will next visit Olivet Nazarene in a non-conference game on Tuesday.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Lewis’ Jenny Turpel, Missouri-St. Louis’ Kristi White, Northern Kentucky’s Brandi Rayburn, Quincy’s Stephanie Wagner and Southern Indiana’s Ashton Mertens.
