University of Indianapolis senior guard Katie Dewey (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Dewey guided the fourth-ranked Greyhounds to a pair of wins last week, including a win over previously unbeaten Lynn on Friday.
 
In UIndy’s 75-62 victory at Florida Tech on Tuesday, Dewey posted 17 points, four rebounds and four assists. She shot 62.5 percent (5-8) from the field and hit 3-of-6 (.500) from the three-point line. She also converted all four free throw attempts in the win.
 
Dewey returned on Friday to score 14 points and notch eight rebounds, six assists and five steals in the Greyhounds’ 67-51 win at Lynn. She shot 54.5 percent (5-11) from the field and was again 3-for-6 (.500) from behind the three-point line.
 
On the week, Dewey averaged 15.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game. She shot 52.6 percent from the field, 50 percent from the three-point line and 71.4 percent from the free throw line.
 
She is averaging 11.1 points, 5.1 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game for UIndy this season. Dewey leads the GLVC in steals per game and is ranked fourth in assists.
 
The Greyhounds (9-0) are 1-0 in league play this season and will next host Christian Brothers on Dec. 30 before returning to conference play on Jan. 2 against visiting Quincy.
 
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Brittany Edelen, Drury’s Katie Pritchard, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Lauren Goffinet, Lewis’ Jenny Turpel and Rockhurst’s Chrissy Sarcone.
