INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Bellarmine University’s Brandon Clifford (Greensboro, N.C./Page) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The senior forward led the Knights over pre-season GLVC East Division favorite Northern Kentucky, 78-66, on Nov. 21.
Clifford, a 6-foot-9 power forward, posted a double-double in the victory over the visiting Norse. He netted 17 points and collected 15 rebounds with 12 coming on the defensive end.
He finished the contest 6-of-13 from the field and 3-of-6 from the three-point line. Clifford was 2-for-2 from the free throw line and dished out two assists.
Bellarmine sits alone atop the GLVC East Division standings with a 1-0 record. The Knights are 2-1 overall and will continue league play when SIU Edwardsville visits on Nov. 30.
Clifford is second on the team in scoring (17 ppg) and leads the Knights in rebounding with 10.3 rebounds per game. He is among league leaders in three-point percentage and three-point field goals made this season and has posted a double-double in two of Bellarmine’s three games this year.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Brandon Kimbrough, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Jeff Fahnbulleh, Lewis’ Stephan Bolt, Rockhurst’s Joey Deas, Saint Joseph’s Ronald Coleman and Southern Indiana’s Rashard Sullivan.
