University of Indianapolis junior pitcher Cory Rupert (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

 

Rupert guided the 12th-ranked Greyhounds to a win in their season opener with a 5-3 victory at West Georgia. In the victory, the Hounds’ starter went seven innings and allowed one earned run on six hits. He struck out ten West Georgia batters and allowed just two walks.

 

Rupert is now 1-0 with a 1.29 earned run average on the young season. 

 

Indianapolis (2-0) will travel to Columbus State for three games this weekend.

 

Other top performers in GLVC last week included Kentucky Wesleyan’s Brandon Robinette, Saint Joseph’s Eric Meyerchick and Southern Indiana’s Taylor Dennis.
