INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Bellarmine University’s Ashley Elmore (Scipio, Ind./Jennings Co./IPFW) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. The senior center helped the Knights to victories over Kentucky State and top-ranked Grand Valley State last week.
In Bellarmine’s 64-62 win at Grand Valley State on Nov. 26, Elmore posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. She was 5-of-7 from the field and connected on all four free throw attempts. She also contributed three assists and a steal.
Elmore helped spark a 9-0 run against the Lakers, scoring five points during a three-minute span, allowing the Knights to knot the game with four minutes remaining. Bellarmine halted Grand Valley State’s 26-game winning streak with the win.
Bellarmine blew past Kentucky State on Nov. 21, 94-54. Playing in just 16 minutes, Elmore scored eight points and collected five rebounds, an assist and steal.
For the week, Elmore averaged 11 points, eight rebounds and two assists while shooting 60 percent from the field. She is averaging 12.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game on the year.
Bellarmine improved its overall record to 4-0 with the victories and will open GLVC action when SIU Edwardsville visits on Nov. 30.
