University of Wisconsin-Parkside senior Mike Pena (Racine, Wis.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week.

 

Pena paced the Rangers to three wins over the weekend, including a 7-2 victory in a non-conference contest at 26th-ranked Southern Indiana.

 

In four games, Pena hit .533 with three RBIs and a run scored. He was 2-for-4 with a run in the win over the Eagles and returned on Saturday to go 5-for-8 with three RBIs in a split with Wayne State (NE) and Southern Indiana.

 

Pena is hitting .350 on the season for the Rangers with four RBIs, four runs scored and a pair of doubles.

 

UW-Parkside (4-8) has won four of its last five games and is within two wins of last year’s win total. The Rangers will travel to Missouri S&T and Drury this weekend to open GLVC play

 

Other top performers in GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Patrick Brady, Drury’s Kendall Findley, Indianapolis’ Adam Akin, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Luke Garmon, Lewis’ Richard Forkin, Maryville’s Eric Gruenewald, Missouri-St. Louis’ Erik Walk, Northern Kentucky’s Pat Muth, Quincy’s Matt Scoggins , Rockhurst’s Mike Walczuk and  Southern Indiana’s Wandy Rosario.
