University of Indianapolis senior first baseman Megan Russell (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week. 

Russell led the Greyhounds to a 7-0 record last week and in the process hit .375 with 16 RBIs, eight runs scored, three doubles and four home runs. She posted an impressive slugging percentage of 1.000 and walked three times.
 
After going just 1-for-13 in the first four games of the week, Russell exploded to close the week by going 8-for-11 in a UIndy wins over Clarion and Drury.
 
In UIndy’s 14-0 win against Clarion in the final game for the Hounds at the Rebel Spring Games, Russell was 4-for-5 with five RBIs, two runs scored, a double and home run.
 
She returned on Sunday to go 6-for-7 with 12 RBIs, six runs, three home runs and a double in the Greyhounds doubleheader sweep at Drury.
 
On the year, Russell is hitting .299 with 26 RBIs, 15 runs, eight doubles and five home runs. She currently leads the GLVC in RBIs, total bases (45), and pitching wins (8), while standing second in doubles and home runs.
 
UIndy (14-7) has won 11 straight games and sits at 6-0 in the GLVC. The Greyhounds will host Missouri S&T and Maryville this weekend.
 
Other top performers in GLVC last week included Missouri S&T’s Kassi Deibert, Quincy’s Melissa Sommerfeld, and Rockhurst’s Natalie Johnson.
