Missouri S&T senior pitcher Ashley Wallingford (Kahoka, Mo./Clark County) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week.
Wallingford paced the Miners in the circle by going 3-0 with a save in four appearances last week. Her efforts helped S&T post a 5-1 mark on the week, including a 3-1 performance in league contests.
She opened the week with a 5-0 win over Lincoln. Wallingford allowed just one hit and struck out four in the victory.
In S&T sweep over Bellarmine on Saturday, Wallingford picked up a complete-game victory in the Miners’ 3-1 decision in game one. She scattered six hits and struck out four in the win and then returned in the nightcap to collect a save by throwing the final three innings and striking out seven.
Wallingford capped the week by posting her second straight complete game in a 4-1 win over Northern Kentucky on Sunday. She allowed just four hits, no earned runs and struck out seven in the win.
On the week, Wallingford posted a 0.30 earned run average by allowing just one earned run in 23 innings of work. She struck out 22 and opponents batted just 0.89 in her four appearances.
This season, Wallingford is 4-3 with a 4.37 earned run average. She has posted 31 strikeouts in 41 and two-thirds innings of work.
S&T (8-6) has won six of its last seven games and is 4-4 in the GLVC. The Miners visit Missouri Southern, Saint Joseph’s and Indianapolis this week.
