University of Southern Indiana junior pitcher Trevor Leach (Danville, Ind./Danville) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Leach, a junior righthander for the Eagles, posted an impressive performance in Friday’s opener with visiting Missouri-St. Louis. He went the distance in a 12-0 nine-inning shutout, striking out a career-high eight batters.
Leach surrendered just three hits and set down 25 of 29 batters faced in the contest. Only one runner advanced past first base in the game and he allowed just one walk.
His efforts helped USI take the first two contests of the weekend series with the Tritons. USI (14-7) is 4-2 in league play and will finish the series with Missouri-St. Louis this week before meeting Oakland City and Maryville.
Other top performers in GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Cory White, Lewis’ Drew Hicks, Missouri S&T’s Andrew Page, and Northern Kentucky’s Dave Middendorf.
