Northern Kentucky sophomore Jesscia Farris (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week.

Farris, a shortstop for the Norse, helped guide NKU to a 4-0 record against GLVC opponents over the weekend. On the week, she hit .643 with six RBIs and four runs scored.

In NKU’s sweep over Maryville on Saturday, Farris was 3-for-6 with two RBIs and a double. She capped the day by driving in the game-winning run in the 3-2 Norse win in the nightcap.
 
She returned on Sunday to go 6-for-7 in two wins over visiting Missouri-St. Louis. She was 4-for-5 in the first game against the Tritons and belted a three-run homer in the sixth inning to spur the Norse to a 10-8 come-from-behind win. Farris completed the day by going 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI in the 8-0 game two victory.
 
On the year, Farris is hitting .380 with 19 runs and eight RBIs.
 
NKU (13-8) is now 7-2 on the year and will play Ohio Dominican, Southern Indiana and Kentucky Wesleyan this week.
 
Other top performers in GLVC last week included Indianapolis’ Jamie Keltz, Missouri S&T’s Coley Naughton, Missouri-St. Louis’ JaCee Ellis, Quincy’s Erin Gregory, Rockhurst’s Kristen Benes and Southern Indiana’s Brittany DeWeese.
