Drury University’s Pelagie Gamo (Yaounde, Cameroon/Lycee Classique de Batoussam) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. Gamo, a sophomore, helped the Panthers to an impressive win over nationally ranked University of Central Oklahoma last week, keeping Drury’s undefeated streak alive.

In Drury’s 9-0 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State, she accounted for a win at No. 1 singles and No. 1 Doubles. She defeated Camilla Goncalves 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles and paired with Abbey Sharpe to defeat Cassandra-Leigh Kleber and Mayra Leal, 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.
 
Gamo also contributed to the Panther’s 9-0 win over Dallas Baptist on Wednesday when she picked up a win at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles. She topped Hannah Innes, defeating her 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 at No. 3 singles and paired with Sharpe again to defeat Lisa Ollan and Jeanelle Stines, 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
 
On Thursday, against nationally ranked Central Oklahoma, Gamo fought back in a critical three-set deciding match earning the win at No. 3 singles, 2-6, 6-0, 6-1. Pairing with Sharpe again at No. 2 doubles, she secured a win against Elizabeth Abramovic and Julia Shviadok, 9-7.
 
On the week, Gamo was 1-0 at No. 1 singles, 2-0 at No. 3 singles, 1-0 at No. 1 Doubles and 2-0 at No. 2 doubles. She is 9-0 overall on the year in singles and doubles.
 
Drury (9-0) remains undefeated and will travel to Quincy and Illinois-Springfield this weekend to compete in their first GLVC conference matches of the year.
 
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Emily Roebker, Missouri-St. Louis’ Stephanie Thompson, Lewis’ Jody Wagner, Indianapolis’ Meghan Teunis, Rockhurst’s Maureen Reilley and Saint Joseph’s Katee Sanderson.
