 Indianapolis’ Jerel Flournoy (Gary, Ind. / Wallace High School) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Flournoy, a freshman for the Greyhounds, won the long jump and 400 meter dash at the Indiana Intercollegiate last weekend. With a leap of 7.23, a NCAA qualifying jump, he is currently ranked in the top ten in the nation. Running the 400 meter dash in 48.30, he earned a conference-best time and also ran a seasonal and personal-best time of 21.79 in the 200 meter dash.

Flournoy also participated in two relays for the Hounds, the 4x100 and 4x400. The 4x100 relay team established a school record with a NCAA qualifying time of 40.95, ranking them in the top ten in the nation. The 4x400 relay team earned a NCAA provisional time of 3:14.82.
 
UIndy will return to action next weekend when they host the Gerald England Invitational.
 
Other top performers in the GLVC this week included Missouri S&T’s Elijah Thomas and Allen Ernst, Indianapolis’ Cory Fornal, Bellarmine’s Josh Farmer, Lewis’ Chris Leibrand, Drury’s Quentin Mack and Northern Kentucky’s Drew Harris.
