Rockhurst University sophomore first baseman Ryan Porter (Blue Springs, Mo./Lee’s Summit Christian)is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
Porter guided the Hawks to a 6-1 record last week, including a 3-1 mark in their weekend series at Quincy. In the seven contests, Porter hit .519 with 12 RBIs,11 runs, three home runs, two doubles, a triple and a 1.000 slugging percentage.
He opened the week by going 3-for-9 with three runs, a double, a triple and an RBI in Rockhurst’s sweep at Southwest Baptist on Tuesday.
Porter then went 4-for-5 with two home runs, four runs and three RBIs in the Hawks’ 8-2 win at Missouri Western on Wednesday.
On Saturday, Rockhurst swept a doubleheader at Quincy with Porter going 5-for-8 with three runs, four RBIs and a home run.
He capped the week with a 2-for-5 performance with four RBIs in Sunday’s split at Quincy.
On the year, Porter is hitting .413 with 38 RBIs, 38 runs, 20 doubles and seven RBIs.
Rockhurst (23-18) is currently fourth in the GLVC West Division with a 10-12 record. The Hawks will play Emporia State and Missouri-St. Louis this week.
