Lewis University freshman shortstop Michelle Vucsko (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week.
Vucsko helped the Flyers to four wins on the week and batted a team-best .667 (12-18) in six contests. On the week, she compiled five RBIs, five runs scored and had two doubles.
In Lewis’ doubleheader with UW-Parkside on Wednesday, Vucsko was 3-for-6 with two RBIs.
She returned on Saturday to guide the Flyers to a sweep at Southern Indiana. In the 8-5 game one victory, Vucsko was 2-for -3 with a run, a double and two RBIs. She capped the day with a 2-for-2 effort in the 7-5 game two victory.
Vucsko finished the week by going 5-for-7 in two wins at Kentucky Wesleyan. In the first game, she was 2-for-4 with a run scored. She was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, a double and RBI in the second game.
This season, Vucsko is batting .421 with a team-best eight doubles and 28 RBI. She is hitting a team-best .422 in league play.
Lewis (25-9) is 15-5 in the GLVC this season and will play St. Xavier, Saint Joseph’s, Judson, Bellarmine and Northern Kentucky this week.
