Lewis University sophomore Uno Lapimaa (Tallinn, Estonia) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week.
Lapimaa guided the Flyers to the No 2 seed in the GLVC East Division with wins over Bellarmine and Northern Kentucky last week.
The Flyers topped Bellarmine on Friday, 5-2, with Lapimaa picking up wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. At No. 1 singles, he topped Bellarmine’s Nate Matthews, 6-2, 6-2. Lapimaa teamed with Tonis Irdoja at No. 1 doubles to top Matthews and Jacob Knagenjhelm, 9-8.
In Lewis’ 7-2 win over Northern Kentucky on Saturday, Lapimaa defeated Guillaume Berman at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-0. He and Irdoja knocked off Berman and Lance Koetter at No. 1 doubles, 8-6.
Lapimaa is 28-1 overall in singles play and 19-0 in dual matches. He has posted a 5-0 mark in GLVC singles action and boasts a 22-7 overall mark in doubles play.
Lewis (15-5) finished the GLVC season with a 4-1 record and will face Missouri-St. Louis in the quarterfinal round of the GLVC Men’s Tennis Tournament on Friday.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Rockhurst’s Ben Newell.
