 University of Southern Indiana’s Dustin Emerick (Elmwood, Ill./Elmwood High School) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week. 

Emerick, a sophomore for USI, ran a provisional mark in the 10,000-meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays last weekend. Finishing in a time of 29:49.16, less than ten seconds short of an automatic qualifying time, he moved ahead of GLVC Hall of Famer James Nolan to third on the USI all-time list. He is currently ranked eighth in the national poll.  
 
USI returns to action next weekend, competing in both the Hillsdale “Gina” Relays and the Bellarmine Invitational.
 
Other top performers in the GLVC this week included Missouri S&T’s Bryan Kluge, Saint Joseph’s Joe Tooks and Tyler Sult, Northern Kentucky’s Drew Harris, and Drury’s Jaime Villa Zapatero.
