University of Indianapolis shortstop Kaleb Cunningham (Knaps State, N.Y./Stockton) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
Cunningham led the Greyhounds to a perfect 6-0 week which included a four-game sweep over visiting UW-Parkside. He finished the six contests batting .609 with 14 RBIs, nine runs, five doubles, two stolen bases and a .826 slugging percentage.
In UIndy’s doubleheader sweep over Kentucky State on Thursday, Cunningham was 2-for-6 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
He went a combined 12-for-17 in the weekend series with UW-Parkside, including an 8-for-10 effort in Friday’s doubleheader. He was 3-for-5 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored in the Greyhounds’ 13-3 win in the opener. Cunningham capped the day by going 5-for-5 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored in the nightcap.
On Saturday, Cunningham guided UIndy to a pair of victories by going 4-for-7 at the plate with three runs, four RBIs and a double.
This season, Cunningham is batting .385 with 44 RBIs, 48 runs scored, 14 doubles, three triples and a team-best 16 stolen bases.
UIndy (31-15) is 18-8 in the GLVC and second in the East Division. The Greyhounds will close conference play with a four-game series at Northern Kentucky this week.
Other top performers in GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Chris Wiedmar, Drury’s Tyler Goss, Lewis’ Richard Forkin, Missouri S&T’s Zach Carter, Quincy’s Matt Scoggins and Rockhurst’s Tom Stevison.
