University of Southern Indiana junior outfielder Michael Huling (South Bend, Ind./Mishawaka) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
Huling led the Eagles to a four-game sweep at Quincy over the weekend. In the four contests, he hit .500 with seven RBIs, five runs, three home runs and a 1.000 slugging percentage.
On Saturday, Huling was 3-for-8 in the doubleheader sweep with three RBIs, a run scored and a home run.
He returned on Sunday to explode for a 6-for-10 day at the plate. Huling did much of the damage in the nightcap as he finished 4-for-6 with four RBIs and three runs scored. He also belted a home run in each of his last two at-bats.
On the season, Huling is hitting .400 with 43 RBIs and four home runs.
Southern Indiana (39-12) finished the conference season 25-5 and earned the league’s top seed for the GLVC Tournament. The Eagles will face Lewis in the first round at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Ill.
Other top performers in GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Nick Riganti, Lewis’ Scott Householder, Missouri S&T’s Will Morrison, Rockhurst’s Ryan Porter and Saint Joseph’s Sean Estand.
