Northern Kentucky University senior forward Danielle Hogue (Okeana, Ohio/Ross) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. Hogue posted three points in helping the Norse net an unblemished mark through the first weekend of the season.
In Sunday’s 3-0 win over Southern Indiana, Hogue tallied a goal and an assist. Her cross to Kristi Hofmeyer allowed the junior to connect on the game-winning goal from 15 yards out just 16 minutes into the contest.
Hogue added an insurance goal for the Norse minutes later on an assist from Kathryn Hale. The goal in the 23 minute provided the Norse a comfortable 2-0 advantage.
In Friday’s contest against Findlay, Hogue had two shots, including one on goal, as the Norse battled the visitors to a scoreless tie.
With the successful weekend of action, Northern Kentucky extended their home unbeaten streak to 22 games and was one of just two GLVC teams to navigate the opening week unscathed.
Hogue leads the Norse and ranks second in the GLVC with three points this season.
The 15th-ranked Norse (1-0-1, 1-0-0 GLVC) will visit Bellarmine and host Kentucky Wesleyan this weekend.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Maryville’s Callie Anderson, Rockhurst’s Abby Davidson, Southern Indiana’s Meagan Kempf, UIndy’s Shae Morris and UW-Parkside’s Shannon Becker.
