INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.Bellarmine University’s Adam Brames (Ferdinand, Ind.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period of Dec. 18-31. The junior guard guided the Knights to a pair of wins at the Porreco Cup hosted by Gannon University on Dec. 29-30.
 
Brames was selected MVP of the tournament after posting career highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals and three-pointers over the course of the weekend.
 
In the Knights’ 82-75 win over California-PA on Dec. 29, Brames scored a game-high 20 points on 5-of-9 (.556) shooting, including a 4-of-6 (.667) effort from behind the three-point line. He added career-highs of eight rebounds and three steals in the win, as well as four assists.
 
Bellarmine collected an 81-65 win over host Gannon in the championship game on Dec. 30. Brames delivered a career-high 26 points in the win and also established career-highs in assists (5) and three-point field goals (5). He was 8-of-13 (.615) from the field and added three rebounds and two steals.
 
For the tournament, Brames averaged 23 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game. He shot 59.1 percent from the field and 64.3 percent from behind the three-point arc. Brames also connected on all 11 free throw attempts.
 
He is now averaging 13.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game on the season and has helped Bellarmine to a 6-5 overall mark and 2-1 conference record.
 
The Knights have won three straight and will return to action on Jan. 4 at Lewis.
 
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Chris Ijames, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Rodney Edgerson, Lewis’ Brandon Dagans, Missouri-Rolla’s Tyrone Davidson, SIU Edwardsville’s J.B. Jones and Southern Indiana’s Marty Wise.
