Northern Kentucky University senior forward Steven Beattie (Skerries, Ireland/Colaiste Ide College) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. Beattie posted three goals and an assist last week in helping the Norse to a 1-0-1 week.
In a tight matchup at No. 23 Bellarmine on Friday, Beattie scored the first goal of the match in the 68th minute on an assist from Jack Little. The goal helped the Norse secure a 1-1 tie with the Knights and moved Beattie to the top spot on NKU’s all-time points list with 122.
On Sunday, Beattie tallied a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in NKU’s 6-0 win over visiting Kentucky Wesleyan. Beattie scored the first goal of the match off a cross from teammate Nicholas Chiarot in the sixth minute. He added his second goal in the 62nd minute on an assist from Little. Beattie fed Mohammed Salhieh off a free kick in the 38th minute to record his assist in the contest.  
In the two matches, Beattie recorded 10 shots and seven shots on goal. He finished with seven points on three goals and an assist.
He leads the Norse with four goals and three assists this season. He ranks first in the league in shots (25) and assists and second in points (11) and goals.
The 7th-ranked Norse (3-0-1, 2-0-1 GLVC) will host Indianapolis and Ashland this weekend.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Bradley Barraclough, Drury’s Stephen Conner, Missouri S&T’s Peter Haw, Missouri-St. Louis’ Adam Giesegh, Rockhurst’s Mark Magee, Southern Indiana’s Jeff McClure and UIndy’s Justin Roberts.
