University of Wisconsin-Parkside Ben Orvold (Sussex, WI.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. The senior led the Rangersto a third-place finish at the Midwest Open this past Saturday.
Orvold finished the 8K course with a time of 25:11 to win the race. Orvold finished a half minute ahead of the second place finisher on a challenging and wet course at UW-Parkside. Orvold’s performance eclipsed his personal best by 20 seconds in his first meet of the season.
The Rangers finished overall with a total of 66 points in the meet, finishing behind Division I UW-Milwaukee and Loyola.
The Rangers will compete again on Sept. 25 at the Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Nate Dotterweich, Northern Kentucky’s Ryne Smith and UIndy’s Mark Martinez.
