Northern Kentucky University senior midfielder Steven Beattie (Skerries, Ireland/Colaiste Ide College) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. Beattie guided the Norse to wins over Indianapolis and No. 12 Ashland over the weekend.
In Northern Kentucky’s 5-2 win over UIndy on Friday, Beattie had four assists to lead the Norse and tie the school’s single-game assist record. With the Norse trailing 1-0, Beattie assisted on NKU’s game-tying goal by Michael Holder in the 22nd minute. He returned to add an assist on Mohammed Salhieh’s goal in the 44th minute, Paul Andrews’ goal in the 48th minute and Holder’s second goal in the 81st minute.
The four assists ties the school mark set by Jeff Anderson during the 2000 season.

Beattie finished the week with seven points on a goal and five assists. He now leads the GLVC in points (18) and assists (8) and ranks second in the league in goals scored (5).
