Rockhurst University junior outside hitter Maggie McGovern (Kansas City, Mo./Notre Dame de Sion) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. McGovern led the Hawks to a 2-1 week including a sweep over Southern Indiana on Friday.  

In the three GLVC matches on the week, McGovern averaged 5.45 points per set, including 4.18 kills, 0.91 service aces and 0.64 blocks per set. She finished the week with a .340 hitting percentage and also added 1.45 digs per set.

She opened the week in Rockhurst’s five-set loss at Drury on Tuesday and posted 14 kills, seven service aces, six digs and four blocks. McGovern finished the match with a .243 hitting percentage and also had an assist.

In Rockhurst’s sweep of Southern Indiana on Friday, McGovern notched 14 kills, three service aces and six digs in the three sets. She hit at a .344 clip and also added a block assist in the win.

McGovern completed her week by posting a .464 hitting percentage in Rockhurt’s win over Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday. She had 18 kills, four digs and two blocks in the victory.

On the season, McGovern ranks second in the GLVC in both points (4.26 per set) and kills (3.57 per set). She is also adding 0.35 service aces, 1.28 digs per set and 0.54 blocks per set.

Rockhurst (12-2) is 3-1 in the GLVC this season and has won 10 of its last 11 matches. The Hawks will host Newman on Tuesday before visiting Bellarmine and Northern Kentucky this weekend.
