Quincy University senior midfielder Jack Wedemeier (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Notre Dame) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. Wedemeier led the Hawks to a pair of GLVC victories last week, including a win over No. 20 Drury.

In the Hawks’ 1-0 win over the Panthers on Tuesday, Wedemeier assisted on the game-winning tally that was recorded by Grant Ellison in the 62nd minute.

Quincy topped Southern Indiana, 3-2, on Friday behind two goals from Wedemeier. He scored a game-tying goal in the 60th minute on a free kick from 23 yards out to knot the contest at 1-1. After Quincy fell behind again less than a minute later, Wedemeier again tied the contest on an unassisted goal in the 77th minute.

On the week, Wedemeier posted five pints on two goals and an assist. He finished with seven shots in three matches and converted two of his three shots on goal.

Wedemeier is second on the club in points (9), goals scored (4), shots (22) and shots on goal (8). He has also added one game-winning goal this season.

Quincy (5-3) is 4-2 in the GLVC this season and has won four of its last five matches. The Hawks will travel to Bellarmine and Kentucky Wesleyan this weekend.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s David Emnett, Lewis’ Aloiso Barros, Missouri S&T’s Caleb Collier, Northern Kentucky’s Michael Holder, Rockhurst’s Nick McDonald and UIndy’s Bobby Adkins.
