University of Wisconsin Parkside’s Hope Christie (Somers, WI.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. Christie, a senior helped lead the Running Rangers to a ninth-place finish at the Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota this past Saturday.

Christie ran in her first 6k race of the season and finished ninth out of 287 finishers. On a challenging and muddy course she finished with a time of 22:43. Christie was less than a second out of eighth place and just three seconds back of seventh place. 
 
Christie helped the Rangers finish with a team score of 278. They finished behind eighth-place Northern Michigan, 266, and ahead of 10th-place Morningside, 305. Minnesota-Duluth won the event on the 6k course.
 
UW-Parkside will return to action on October 2 at the Wartburg Invite.
 
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Maryville’s Justine Seidel and Northern Kentucky’s Jerrica Maddox.
