Lewis University senior forward Armin Vrebac (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. Vreback paced the Flyers in victories at Indianapolis and at No. 4 Northern Kentucky over the weekend.
In the Flyers’ 2-0 win at UIndy on Friday night, Vrebac added an insurance goal in the 54th minute unassisted. He buried the goal into the top right of the net off a free kick.
He returned on Sunday to come off the bench and tally a goal. Vrebac scored on an assist from Aloiso Barros in the 85th minute to seal an upset victory for Lewis over the previously unbeaten Norse.
On the week, Vrebac had four points on two goals and finished the two contests with five shots which included three shots on goal.
Vrebac is second on the team with four goals this season. He has also added three assists and ranks third on the team in points with 11.
With the two victories, Lewis (7-3) sits alone atop the GLVC standings with a 7-2 league record. The Flyers will host UW-Parkside and visit Saint Joseph’s this weekend.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Drury’s Micah Whorton, Quincy’s Grant Ellison, Rockhurst’s Nick McDonald and Saint Joseph’s Kevin Amaizo.
